With the dow being down 150 points most of the day nothing triggered in our list. Interesting to note that EK from 2 days ago launched over a dollar higher on a massive earnings report. If I would have known the earnings report was coming out I never would have traded it anyways (except intraday) so I don't feel too badly about the 2k that I missed. The scan yielded 474 sell signals and only 17 buys....and of those buys signals 15 of them are inverse ETF's. Sound a bit negative??? I would say so. Here are a couple from the scan:

Today is Bernakes possible confirmation day. If he does not get in for another term things will be crazy. If he does maybe a little normalcy back in the markets. Yesterday all 3 stocks on my watch list triggered and went higher but being the chicken that I am I did not enter into a position with the FOMC meeting and Obama speaking etc,etc,etc. For today:

Fed Day

I don't like trading on Fed days. The market chops around all day until the announcement and then goes crazy in one direction or another. I found a couple that may be of interest but this whole week may be a writeoff.

Nothing done yesterday and I will tread very carefully today too with everything swirling around about Bernake and Geithner. It will be a very tricky week to say the least. I wrote 3 down from the scan and may try something if it looks good but don't be surpised if nothing gets done either.

Not a whole bunch in the scan that I could find and the ones I did find have massive amounts of risk involved. If I do buy one of these I will take on considerably less shares than normal.

Friday Jan 22

With 140 sells and only 4 buys in the scan there is limited stocks with a good set up right now. The dow futures were down 60 when I got up this morning but are only down 19 at present so maybe a bounce is due after the last two days of selling. I have found 1 from the list:

Stopped out of DUK

Well the dows 200+ drop today stopped us out of DUK with a 400 buck hit. The first one of the year and hopefully the last one for a while. It happens and I will make that back....just a bump in the road. AAI gapped our entry and TRID did not trigger so I am flat. Maybe thats a good thing with how volatile the market has been lately. Got Nathan out of TLAB today right at the high so at least something positive on the day.

For Thursday Jan 21st

Yesterday even with the dow down 200 at one point DUK did not get stopped out. Hopefully today we get some upward movement. Wasn't a whole bunch in the scan that I liked but I found a couple:

Things are not looking too rosey at present. The US dollar must be strong cause the dow futures, gold and oil are all getting crushed presently. Not good for our DUK position. Stop loss on it is at 16.67. I have a few on our watch list for today:

Missed It!

I can't believe I missed LLY. I gave Leann and Ayden a ride to school cause I needed the vehicle and in that 5 minutes LLY triggered and never looked back. I wasn't too worried at the time....the dow futures were down 40 points at the open and I had oodles of time to come home and place my order. Yeah right! It was an easy 500 bucks and went almost 1000 dollars before it finally pulled back. I think a good swift kick in the nuts feels better than this. At least Nathan was smart enough to place an order and he made off with some cash. Its about an hour before the close and I just got filled in DUK. Gonna hold this one overnight and hope that we get a nice move in the morning.

Tuesday Jan 19th

With holiday monday out of the way we can get back to trading in the morning. I find it interesting that in the weekly scan were alot of big dow component stocks like IBM, KO, MCD, WMT, and PG, giving buy signals or fibwits. Maybe with earnings season upon us now the big boys know something we dont and are loading up on some of these monsters. Finding a fibwit in the scan that wasnt trading into a peak or close to highs was hard to do but I managed to find a couple I liked:

Friday

I think this damn flu bug is finally out of my system and I can get back to trading. I slept pretty much all day yesterday so no trading done but would have done well buying WMS from my short list. The scan yielded pretty much an even spread between buys and sells and the dow futures are currently down 40 so a weaker open is sure to happen. Lots of reports out this morning however to move the market so we will see what happens. Here is my new list:

Thursday

A couple of stocks on the list from yesterday triggered but I was down with the stomach flu so I did not trade them. Not feeling much better today so I managed to get through the list and wrote a few down. 90 buys and 11 sells in the scan. See how long I last today.....will try to be here for the open.

Out of XRX

XRX fought with the double top from yesterday at8.91. After a 15 min fight I gave up and sold at 8.90. Its probably gonna go now but I will take the 80 bucks and see if it does. No fills in anything else to date.

Wednesday

XRX missed our profit taking order by 5 cents a couple of times during the day and we ended the day up 3 cents. Hopefully we get outa that one today.

We had 72 buy signals and only 10 sells in the scan so hopefully that means a positive day ahead. I found 4 stocks in the scan that I thought were ok but most of them give us a signal right at the high or right near a peak. Here are the 4 from most favorite to least favorite

XRX Filled

Got our fill in XRX and have put in a limit order to take profit at 8.96. Gonna be out of my office for a couple of hours so we will see if we get filled when I get back.

XRX

I added XRX this morning from Nathan's list and it seems to be the only one with some strength this morning. The dow has been in the red all morning long but XRX has been climbing. It triggered at 8.85 a few minutes ago so I put in orders to buy on an 8.82 limit order. See if we get filled.

For Tuesday

I received the scan and found it to have more sell signals than buy signals. That usually doesn't bode well for the next day but I managed to find 3 keybars that I liked to maybe do a scalp.

Done with DST

What a goofy morning. Got gapped in just about everything at the open and then things pulled back hard. DST made an early high of 45.25 and then fell to 45. I then threw in a 45.22 limit to get out and after a couple of tries it made it there. I will take the 70 bucks and sit on the sidelines with this much volatility thankyou very much. The only thing that I may be remotely interested in is CNO but it is fighting with its 40 m/a on a 15 min chart at present. If it doesn't hold then I will be done for the day. If I get filled I will report back.

Monday A.M.

Well, I went through the scans last night and found a few. The weekly scans seem to foreshadow what is gonna happen for the week. There were alot of gold and oil stocks in the weekly scan and this morning.... voila....gold up 19 bucks and oil up close to a dollar. The weekly scan seems to tell us where the big boys are positioning themselves for the upcoming week. Anyhow my short list includes AUY, ABX, and AA.....all of which are gonna gap us this morning so those are out. Here is the rest of my list for the day with entries just above and stops just below the range:

DST

Got a fill in DST and it closed up a couple of pennies. Would really like a nice pop monday a.m. and out we get and on to the next one but I guess we have to wait for that to happen. I have not been through the weekend scans yet but if and when I find something I will post it here.

TOL

Closed my first position of the year in TOL. Bought on tuesday and got a nice gap up this morning and bailed with around 600 bucks. Got gapped in CHS however and it moved about 600 bucks too. I guess one is better than none.
